About Insoumis

An independent, non-party movement for legal literacy and reform, for people of every gender who are going through a family or matrimonial case.

Compassion for every person suffering. Evidence for every claim. Equal process for every side. Reform that prevents the next crisis.

Our promise, and our red lines

We promiseWe will never
Compassion first. When someone is suffering, we begin with care, not blame.Name, shame, photograph or identify any private person, child, judge, lawyer or witness.
Facts before findings. We separate what someone alleges, what they admit, and what a court has decided.Say a person is guilty of anything a court has not decided.
Equal process for every side: the person alleging harm and the person accused.Ask anyone to contact, tag, pressure or review bomb a judge, court, party or employer.
Reform that can be measured: timelines, honest affidavits, open data.Attack judges or courts as a class, or call the system corrupt.
Respect for all genders: women, men, transgender and nonbinary people.Allow “all women lie” or “all men abuse” in our spaces. Ever.
Partnership with the courts, legal aid and the Bar. We help the system work better for everyone in it.Use anyone's story, including the founder's, to pressure a court, a party or a pending case.

The pledge

Everyone who joins the team or the community reads this and agrees to it.

  1. I will not end my life. I will end the silence.
  2. I will begin with compassion, whoever is suffering.
  3. I will ask for evidence before I believe, and before I share.
  4. I will want fairness for the person accusing and the person accused, even when I like only one of them.
  5. I will not name, shame, tag or hunt anyone.
  6. I will tell my own story if I choose to, and never someone else's.
  7. I will respect the courts and work with them, and when I disagree with a judgment, I will disagree through lawful means.
  8. I will remember that a person of any gender can be a victim, and a person of any gender can lie.
  9. I will turn my anger into a reform ask, and my grief into prevention.
  10. When the night is heavy, I will call 14416, and I will pick up when someone else calls me.
  11. Unbowed by despair. Never defiant of the law. Never unkind.

If tonight is heavy, call Tele-MANAS on 14416. It is free and open 24 hours. In an emergency, call 112.
